I inherited a Wallace Shaper & I’m trying to confirm the proper method for loosening the spindle nut that holds the cutter. On the back side of the motor is a rectangular slit large enough for a mid sized slot head screw driver to slide into engaging what appears to be fins. It stops spindle rotation & I am able to loosen the nut. Is that what that opening is intended for?
