Victorian Screen Door Construction Query

Folks -

Well, thanks for the advice earlier on getting my tenon shoulders square for this project.... The wife is turning spindles for the gallery between the two center rails and I have finished the gingerbread corbels for the corners. Before I get ready to glue up, I need to figure out how/what to do for installing screening so that I'll be able to put plexi "storm" windows in for what passes for bad weather here in Northern California.

I was going to cut a channel around the inside perimiter, and have that channel centered within a rabbet apx 1/4 deep and mebbie 3/4 wide. That way I could build a frame around some plexi that would be held in with either screws or supermagnets.

Any ideas, comments? What am I overlooking? The weather here is pushing

100 during the day and ..... someone..... would *REALLY* like some screen doors...

TIA

John,

However you do it, be sure there is no place where water can get trapped - such as in a channel. If you do make the channel then be sure to drill some weep holes so the water can drain out.
