Grey/Gray heads, not red. Plastic support rail. Can be reversed to act as spreader.

Are these a new version? Or something only available down under?

If you look at the Bessey web site

you will see that the K-Bodies are shown with black heads (or at least they used to be; I haven't checked recently). That was as of three or four years ago when I first looked through their site. I figured the red heads were the export version to the U.S./Canadia.

The reversibility and the plastic thingy are new features; no doubt in response to the inclusion of those in the Jorgensen Cabinetmaster design. You can see them on the K-Bodies still hanging at Lowes; they're pretty much gone at HD.

Dean, did you have a chance to compare them to the Jorgys or the Gros Stabils by any chance?

Yep. Bessey's now have the foot, Similar to the Cabinetmasters. I wonder if the foot only stays on the end/ The Jorgensen's feet slide to fit the table. The color may be a down under thing.

There have been 3 or 4 reviews by various magazines in the last year or two. However IIRC the old style Bessey with out the foot or ability to spread.

JP,

I'm planning on doing a review of the Jorgensen Cabinet Masters shortly! :-) Should be a good battle between the two.

The foot does only stay on the end on the Besseys. I'll make note of that when I prepare thew review of the Jorgy Cabinet Master clamps shortly :)

Dean, During the Great Bessey Clearance at HD, one of our esteemed wReckers pointed toward a great sale on the GS PC2, and so I have an integrated clamp rack in my shop. Seems I reach for the yellow & black more frequently than the red. You may wish to see if you can get some for evaluation.

And if the deal that was available earlier were available again, I'd get out the crowbar for two more pair....

I have some of the new Besseys, and the foot does not move, but stays on the end (although it can be removed). I also have the Jorgensens and the sliding foot is a useful feature.

Thought I saw a Fine Woodworking magazine today in my local hardware store and it had a full cover advertising a bar clamp shootout with a full review. You might want to have a look at it just to see what it says.

The colour denotes a metric clamp

Far closer to an overview than a review of these types. Mostly compared the various types of clamps, and offered a preference within each type. Useful, but not particularly helpful for selecting betweem Bessey, Jorgensen and Gross-Stabil, within this sub-category. In truth, the differences seem to be pretty slight.

Indeed they do. I accidently ordered one from amazon and it came with the little black foot thingy. SH - Hey, accidents happen

No, but when you're clamping something down, you have to be cognizant that you're tightening in milimeter graduations instead of imperial measure.

Store them right alongside your metric Crescent(tm) wrenches, too. Then they're fine.
