Also, anything should be thrown into the chipper from a distance so you can have time to react, even just falling will take you out of the path and cause the branch or clothing to break or tear loose. Try it with a Christmas tree in a doorway.

Leading with the bottom of a tree that's 2, 3 or 4-times the doorway's width, the tree slips right through with almost no effort. Now, lead with the top of a tree that's only slightly larger than the doorway, the tree immediately binds up and you have to break branches with a lot of effort to get the tree through...you shove and stuff and kick yourself into the chipper.
