Folks:
Amazon has a deal on a Jet 3 HP TS with router lift and bosch router for $1700... Do any of you have this saw? I have been going over the top brands - Delta, PM, General, and handn't considered a Jet until I came across this..
I was very much impressed by the feeback at Amazon on the saw. I have heard horror stories about Delta along with "trunion issues" and also recent quality control issues at PM. Very much a mixed bag by way of service for these "gold standard" brands..... So.... Any input from y'all?
Where are these saws made? Are Delta's TS, the X5's American made? PM? I know that General is Canada and Gen Int'l is Chaiwanese... Is Jet as well? My Bosch 4412 SCMS was made in Taiwan and it is tough as a tank and deadly accurate... I'd like to buy American, but it is getting harder and harder to do so.... So, how about some help here...
Here's the link at Amazon....
Thanks in advance. I'd especially like to hear from any of you that OWN or have used this saw, especially in relation to the other makes. I use an old Unisaw tank in my WW class and have an old craftsman contractor saw in my home shop. I live out in the sticks, so I don't have the ability to do much by way of hands on comparisons.
BTW, I am finishing sanding the walnut cradle for my niece's newborn, due a week from tomorrow.... I attached the rockers last night, I've carved my name and date in the bottom panel, and etched a copper plate with her family's surname, Banks, for the headboard of the cradle. I should put two coats of oil on it tomorrow, then some wax and I'll give it to her Wednesday or Thursday. Pics to follow....
