I'm making a cradle from aspen wood, and would like a dark, even finish on it, without blotches. Suggestions? Thanks. DJ.

Information here may be outdated?
Not with aspen. Grain twists and runs in several directions pretty regularly. Glaze would be solid. Why not just oil it to a mellow amber?
