I picked up one of these new units for a specific task where a compact
drill/driver and found that it exceeded my expectations and needs. If you
haven't seen one, it is a rather small drill/driver that uses a 10.8 volt
lithium-ion battery. The torque and battery life are much better than I
would have thought possible in such a small package. It is so convenient
that it will probably be the tool of choice when I want to put in a few
screws. It is likely to be in my tool belt when I tackle household repairs.
I does not have as much torque as my 18v Dewalt, so I will still use that
for big jobs.
The only limitation is that it has a 1/4" hex chuck rather than a regular
drill chuck, so you can only use drill bits with hex shanks.
It has a small LED that turns on when you pull the trigger switch part way
in. I thought this would be pretty much useless but I found it helpful when
I was working in a tight space with poor lighting.
It's nice when a new tool actually exceeds expectations. This is one for me.
