Worm drive clips

Ever had the problem with finding long ones? Usual way is to piggy back two or more, but if looks matter - say on a classic car - this isn't ideal.

Browsing through the tool stalls at Wimbledon Stadium Sunday market - as you do - I came across a hose clamp kit. 3 Metres of worm drive band and 8 ends. So you simply cut to suit.

Made by Rolson Pt No 60899. Cost 1.50.

Not a make I'd trust for crucial apps, but for air trunking etc should be ok.

Another substitute you might find aesthetically acceptable is self-coloured stainless steel cable ties. RS sell 'em, at the usual top-whack prices and largish pack quantities (e.g. around 25 quid for partnum 455-9023, pack o' 50, 360mm len x 8mm wide (or 1ft2 x 3/8 in in the old money ;-). No, not cheap; but pretty robust and not too naff looking!

Are they re-useable, though? My use will be for my old Rover, and the air filter assembly has to come off to change the element.

The ones whose stock number I quoted aren't, but RS do also sell releasable s/s cable ties for a few more notes.

More to the point, why should one wish to attach a clip to an earthworm? To take it fir walkies?

After whose jubilee were they named?
