Window meeting fire and insulation requirements

Mar 24, 2005 0 Replies

I having an extension built. Because my property is quite close to next door's boundary any windows I install that face the boundary have to be fire rated and meet insulation requirements too. I've enquired at a few local glass suppliers and they don't have any idea what I'm talking about.

As far as I can see I need to have double-glazed units made up with a low-e panel and a fire rated panel such as pyrostop or pyrobel. And the whole thing in a hardwood frame.

Does anyone have any experience of this? Any advice would be welcomed.
