I have seen this error before, without being able to resolve it - (see the subject line) and it shows when I try to download this BP monitoring app too.

So far, I have tried the following fixes, followed by a reboot.

  1. Type "cmd" in windows search bar
  2. Right click on "Command Prompt"
  3. Select "Run as Administrator"
  4. Type "sfc /scannow" without quote and press ENTER

Then :

  1. Type "cmd" in windows search bar
  2. Right click on "Command Prompt"
  3. Select "Run as Administrator"
  4. Type "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth" without quote and press ENTER
  5. Type "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth" without quote and press ENTER
  6. Type "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" without quote and press ENTER

Followed by a reboot...

Any suggestions please to try any other fixes.

I just downloaded, installed and launched it. No problems. Which doesn't help you much...

I assume your system meets the system requirements.

Otherwise click GET and that should open the Microsft Store. Then you click GET again (in the microsoft store). Microsoft store is also available from the main menu (or whatever Microsoft call it this week). It should just download and install automatically.

If you press start, then type microsoft store (don't worry where your typing it, just type it) can you launch the store app?

if so, then click search with the store and type your "MedM Blood Pressure" and install from there

if you don't see the store app, then you're in a bind as you'll need to install the app, perhaps using a powershell command line add-appxpackage plus a horrible GUID

Graham Harrison brought next idea :

I've now tried a few suggested Registry edits to solve the issue, which hasn't helped at all, but your post has reminded me of the problem I had before - I was trying to download something from the MS Store when it cropped up last :-)

Andy Burns explained on 22/12/2020 :

Yes, but I still wasn't able to download it. Instead of Firefox, it opened MS's new browser in the store, I was able to find the Medm app, on the very same page as Firefox. Clicking Get, did nothing at all, not even the error box in my subject line..

It's not desperate, I already had the app on my Iphone. I was just trying to get it on my laptop until I hit the buffers :-)

I don't think you're launching the Microsoft Store *App* just loading the Microsoft Store *website* in whatever browser. Then when you try to install your blood app, it tries and fails to launch the store app.

What actually happens when you click Start and type "Microsoft Store"?

Andy Burns used his keyboard to write :

It 'offers' MS Store, clicking on it brings up Bing, then clicking on the Store takes me to the Store in Edge.

What it should do is launch an actual store app (with a shopping bag icon) not any browser.

Try re-installing the store app, various methods are available ...

and yes, it fully meets the spec for the software - it is now on OS update 19041.685

What is the file type, you could just have an old version of whatever software is supposed to open that file type. Normally it will prompt a look on line and download the new version or advise you lost the file association that you of course can change at will. Brian

Andy Burns was thinking very hard :

Brilliant Andy, that fixed it :-)

Powershell failed initially to install it, because - Cannot find path 'C:\AppXManifest.xml' because it does not exist.

I found the latest copy of that file on my system and copied it to C:\ and then it managed it :-)

Thanks again.

There is wsreset as well.

C:\W This tool resets the Windows Store with...

because they didn't have enough storage space for a string.

I've had a couple occasions where the Store icon on the task bar has gone missing in Windows 10.
