Wickes Discounts

What has this got to do with putting items into a basket? Is it not the case that the store is willing to price-match its own website? Many retailers do.

The impression I got was that the 'Sale' did not exist, but that having showed a clear interest in items I was individually offered a better price. There is no option to buy direct from the website - you either 'click and collect' or have it delivered from your local store.

I've had something similar occur on another website, years ago - for an expensive guitar, actually. I registered an account and put it in my basket, perhaps to see if was in stock, then forgot about it. A day or two later, and to my surprise, I received a '5% off' email.

I enquired about this at the time and from the (friendly) reply got the impression that this was a common arrangement - perhaps even to the extent that you might get this an an option when setting up your e-commerce website...

Not sure if it's the same thing but it's quite easy to get a Wickes trade card and get 10% off everything. I've had one for years.

If it happens again, how about logging into the website with a different email address and checking whether the 'public' price differs?

I often watch buy-it-now items on eBay to see if a discount will be offered. Sometimes I get lucky.
