Wickes 10% off.

Went into my local Wickes today to be accosted by a young lady.

Did I want 2 x '10% off anything' vouchers valid to 10 Oct (IIRC)? Just had to fill in a form. Got a free tee shirt as well.

No purchase necessary. Could be well worth it if you are planning on a big spend. Applies to anything over £50.

Knew there had to be a reason why people go there ;-)

Did you give her a Medway Handyman fridge magnet in return?

There aren't any others. He didn't say whether the T-shirts were wet or not.

What's wrong with Wickes? No scatter cushions or pot plants, just reasonably priced building materials. Compression fitings cheaper than Screwfix. Miles better than B&Q or Homebase.

It's a linsey-woolsey shop - neither a retailer nor a builders merchants, a little of both and falling between two stools.

So cushions should be purchased in a furnishing shop and building materials at a builders merchant.

Unwise to buy plumbing fittings on price. Actually unwise to buy

*anything* purely on price, but that's another story.

It depends on what you seek.

Wickes are limited on range and have little in the way of branded products.

I can appreciate that they are a good match for handyman one stop shop where time is money. However, I wouldn't buy everything from them, or from anywhere else for that matter.
