When do you glue plastic conduit joints?

Loading thread data ...

I always do - but it's often not essential.

Do you want to be able to disassemble them? Because gluing is a pretty minor operation.

It has no real regulatory impact as long as the joints cannot fall apart by themselves

AND

you're depending on the conduit for protection of basic insulation (ie you've run singles in it) or to offer some other form of mechanical protection.

In my experience a firmly pressed together male / female plastic conduit junction is a very tight fit and can be almost impossible to dismantle even without glue. I've installed loads and have never glued them. Gluing would be a pain when alterations / additions are needed, which is often the case in my workshop for instance.

Indeed. Ironically the solvent weld can make it easier to assemble them!
