What was this device?

It might have voluntary unpaid staff but it probably has a paid manager.

From experience I can tell you that some managers are skimming a f****ng fortune out of the charity they work for.

Fat bird with big t*ts (they normally go hand in hand) who was the manager says "Put that into the unsaleable bin please" to the voluntary unpaid staff member.

Unpaid staff member to Adam 24 hours later "It's no longer in the bin but on eBay for £45 buy it now on her eBay account"

annoying maybe but can you blame them?

Then inform the right people and hopefully she'll be replaced. Folk can't take action over things they're not aware of. Few charity shops can afford CCTV, security guards, tags, tight inventory tracking systems etc.

Not just the managers. Know someone who 'volunteered' and they got the pick of donations, as they collected them. For free.

Hope they're not all like that.

Also nonprofits do sometimes use personal ebay accounts to avoid paying the cost of ebay regarding them as a business seller, £20 a month is impractical for a low level of sales. If you don't have all the facts just pass what you've found to whoever their boss is.

eBay refund almost all fees on Charity listing. I sell some electrical and tech stuff for a large Charity shop on eBay and it costs a total of about 40p per item plus PayPal's fee which is a little more than the normal CC charge. Selling on a personal account is strictly forbidden and would be viewed as potential fraud. .
