What size frame fixings should I use?

Hi,

I am going to be dry-lining a wall later in the week, using 50x50mm battens, and 12.5mm plasterboard. What size frame fixings should I use (8x100, 10x100, 10x115, etc.), and at what spacings? Also, what size plasterboard screws should I use, and at what spacings do those go?

thanks,

dan.

Why use battens at all - as opposed to sticking the board directly onto the wall with large dabs of plasterboard adhesive. If you do it right, this will give a flatter surface since you can even out any irregularities in the wall.

Its a single-skinned outbuilding, so I'm filling the gap with insulation.

For the battens use 3 inch tens (10X75) - some of it will countersink meaning that you will get 35-40mm bite into the brickwork, just use normal woodscrews and rawlplugs, every 20 inches.

PB screws, use 25mm and put one every 8 inch or thereabouts.
