What Is Unistrut Channel?

The Unistrut channel is made of metal and is folded into a curved, open channel. This gives it a rigid appearance and provides a location for mounting interconnecting components. Typically, unistruts are made from lightweight, corrosion-resistant materials. They are typically fastened to the building structure with bolts through the base. Because of their versatility, they are often used in curved ceilings. The length of one length is about 50 feet.

Unistrut channel is cold formed from low carbon strip steel, with combination members welded 3'' apart (76mm). They are available in 12 ga. (2.7mm) and 14 ga. (1.9mm) steel. They are manufactured with a rounded end to prevent bending. Once in position, the channel is installed using a bolt that holds the nut and fitting in place. Once the installation is complete, the Unistrut channel is removed from the ceiling.

Unistrut Channel is available in a variety of profile heights and widths. P2000 and P1100 are available in 14 ga. and 16 ga. Generally, a one-inch Unistrut channel is used for light to medium duty applications. Each profile height can be custom-designed for a particular application. As long as a specific weight limit is set, Unistrut Channel is a great choice.
