What are these called?

When building a new block wall at 90 degrees to an existing one, what's the correct term for those L-shaped metal strips which are fixed to the existing surface to guide and help secure the new blocks? Many thanks.

Angle brackets? Frame ties are normally masonry to timber frame.

There are a variety of stainless or galv. angle brackets that should work for this...

However its better to knock bricks out of existing walls if you can

Or remove mortar and use wall ties.

Thanks for all the replies. This is not something I'm looking to buy in order to use myself, just something I've seen employed and wondered about the correct term. "Wall starters" sounds logical, and in fact Screwfix have something very similar under that exact name:
