There is a radio Ham in the UK who has got an old crane and uses it to put his aerials up as well. I guess because its movable and he can bring them down, he never needs planning consent for some of the rather large self built offerings. I also recall seeing weird tree climbing competitions from America, about as interesting as watching paint dry.
