Hi anyone know where to get reasonably priced replacement glass for Velux windows. Thanks for looking.

Noah.

One of the builders merchant or a roofing suppliers. You will have to order it, as they are not stocked items.

We recently replaced the failed glass units in several veluxes as part of a larger project to replace all the failed d/g units here.

A local glazer provided and fitted the glass units ( not original velux units ) along with all the rest he was doing.

This was *much* cheaper than original velux units, and apparently to a higher standard too, but I have no documentary evidence of that.

I don't have actual numbers to hand, but it was substantially cheaper, and the guys doing the work seemed to know what they were doing, refreshingly enough.

You need to look for glazers in the YP, not the double-glazing outfits, though. The d/g outfits are just interested in replacing your whole windows. They wouldn't look at replacing the glass units in perfectly good hardwoood frames, for example. All they really want to do is rip out your nice hardwood windows, and bodge in a load of uPVC. Also, the big nationals employ minimally-'trained' cheap monkeys, not anyone with a modicum of joinery skill of care. The local glazers are a much better option, and seemed to have some joinery skill.

Velux themselves will do it

- service) or you can get a new sealed unit made up by any glass supplier. The unit is held in by aluminium strips which are just screwed down so it's an easy job (two people if a larger window)
