Vacuum cleaner for DIY - dry pickup only.

The ability to pick up heavier debris & keep it moving through long lengths of hose.

If you have ever tried a twin motor machine, your likely response would be "wow what amazing suction", but actually its airflow.

Big industrial vacs with 2 or 3 turbines have them in parallel e.g. all sucking air out of the drum. The big pro carpet extraction machine with 2 turbines have them (or should have them) in series e.g. the 2nd turbine sucking air through the exhaust of the 1st turbine - which increases suction - because you want to pull as much water out of the fibres as possible.

Simple experiment. Place a coin on a flat surface, push vac hose over it making sure it seals. Turn on vac. Turn off vac. Coin will still be there.

Try again & let the air move & the coin will be picked up.

I've used this machine in the past:

it was a while back now and don't remember too well.

Makes sense :)

Is that why when your cleaning carpets and you have one of them clear nozzles were you see all the water along with the loosened crap being sucked through, the water does not appear to go completely in the tank until you lift the nozzle at the end of the pass?

Very useful info, thank you.

Exactly why, little or no airflow until you lift the nozzle.
