Use of Eco insulation...not advised

Ho ho ho.

There's precious little money to be made from sheep's wool. Prices run at around £1/kg. It barely covers the cost of shearing, but shearing has to be done anyway for the well-being of the sheep. AIUI the market has improved in the last few years due to a strong publicity drive for wool products as well as its use in 'green' insulation.

I was talking to someone from a Welsh sheep farming family a few weeks back. Their cost of shearing alone this year exceeded the price they got for the wool.

There's shoddy. That's been a waste product for a couple of centuries.

From what I have been able to find online, any of the insecticide impregnation approaches seem to have a limited life span. One company claims that plasma treatment of the wool modifies the surface of the wool fibres, which makes them inedible to moths and they claim it is a permanent solution. Presumably, also more expensive than simply dousing the wool in insecticides.
