USA Sends Doomsday Plane E-6B Mercury to Middle East

The USA has deployed the E-6B Mercury airborne command post to the Middle East, often called the ‘Doomsday plane.’

Bankingnews reported about this on March 5, referencing OSINT analysts who monitor military aircraft movements.

The aircraft serves as a command center and facilitates communication with strategic nuclear submarines.

It is equipped with a system for transmitting launch codes for intercontinental ballistic missiles with nuclear warheads.

Additionally, due to its specialized communication systems, the E-6B Mercury can maintain command over nuclear forces even if the ground-based command infrastructure is destroyed.

Wow! Is Dr Strangelove on it?

Have no fear. Jesus and his best mate will sort it out.

Only Dr Strange...

Trumps 3 day special military operation is going well, isn't it? He is begging Zelenskyy for anti-drone cards Apparently he doesn't have any of his own...

Ah, but the US has a machine. It shoots party balloons near airports.

If the drone is made of party balloons, it's dead meat.

The American one is 20kW (hopefully CW).

The Japanese one is 10kW. Theirs comes with a very nice truck.

The UK one doesn't list a power level.

"costs just £10 per shot"

(elsewhere listed as "50 kW class"

Using simple ratios, and based on cost-per-shot, it must be more powerful than the American one.

I think it's interesting, that all parties have a laser-juice that sits in a shell casing, to make a "shot" like that. I wasn't aware you could run a laser off black powder.

The Australian one is 150kW (listed as 100kW class), and they actually sold one to another country. It can shoot a drone weighing 1,320 lb (599 kg). The range is 3 km. (OK, now work out how many you need to defend a border.)

I've noticed an increase in people buying welding goggles. I wonder why ? Must be some welding going on.

Oh, of course they're all eye safe.

Get your party balloons ready. Let the games begin!

If I'd voted for Trump on the basis of his anti-pointless-wars ticket, I'd be pretty f****ng pissed off by now. I had thought all the MSM talk about him being mentally unfit was just politically-motivated spleen-venting, but it looks like there was some substance to it after all.

US lands bomber at UK air base after warning of surge in strikes on Iran

The B-1, which has been used in Syria, Libya, Afghanistan and Iraq, can carry up to 34 tonnes (5,354st) of weapons and equipment

Since when have bomb weights been measured in stones? Sounds like a young journalist used AI to convert 34 tonnes into outdated units for old gits ...

Welcome to the new wave of journalists and journalism. Part of the fun (sic) of listening to the news is to spot the mistakes…

Did you know the B-1 was 146ft? Unfortunately the journalist forgot to mention which dimension it referred to…

I saw that, but couldn't find it again and wondered if I'd imagined it.

Puts a new perspective on death by stoning.

Trump lies about everything. Just like the Librals. He just identified a slightly larger pool of morons to betray.

So he won.

Some of what he does will by complete accident turn out to be worth keeping: the rest of it is all about the Trump Dynasty and its cronies getting even more filthy rich and corrupt than they really are.

And once people tumble to it he will be gone in a flash.

He is controlled by various people behind the scenes. His job is simple: to keep popular support for whatever lunatic policies his cronies decide are good for them. And pretend they are 'good for America'

is well worth listening to....

I've seen many US tanker planes taking off from the UK and heading off for rendezvous with aircraft that are invisible on flight radar.

It's amazing how we still support what he does even after being publically ranted at for not doing anything

Indeed.

US must think they have pretty much air supremacy to bring such an old pile of junk out of mothballs.

They are adopting the same tactics as Russia did with Ukraine.

I am no lover of the Ayatollahs or their brand of religious bigotry, but I cant help feeling Trumps 'special combat operation' will be unsuccessful, except to raise the world price of oil and gas and give Russia a helping hand thereby...all chums together, really...

I th9nk the new Left are well matched to their clientele. Who are distinguished by thinking they are far more well informed than anyone else. In fact they are to a man misinformed.

I suppose we have to do the sums ourselves to convert that to avoirdupois ounces.

As a proper "old git" who does use stones, it is used as a subdivision of a ton, not a universal size.

I understand stones, but for body weight I now find kg more useful, I own a couple of 28 and 56lb bar weights from grandad's farming days.

Yeah. My memory of stoones is fading...

The b-1b holds (24) 2000lb bombs, and can also be configured to hold 500lb bombs. It can't carry the 30,000 lb bunker bomb. It has three bomb bays, with (8) 2000lb bombs each.

Presumably this is a different number of stones.

It has a galley so you can cook your lunch.

It can fly high and fly low. It can terrain-follow and the pilots practice that. It has also been used to "scare" enemy troops (it's quite noisy on afterburners, it is not designed to strafe troops).

Paul

Dropped from altitude, even a few stones would cause a lot of damage. Cheaper than bombs.

A few sci-fi books I've read in the last couple of years have included "kinetic weapons" - captured asteroids moved into orbits to collide with target cities at several thousand kilometres per second. Jolly big bangs they make, considering they're just big lumps of tock and ice.
