UPVC door.

Wanted a well weather proof door for access to my roof terrace. Period or whatever looks not that important as it's a conversion. The original wood one leaked with driven rain - despite spending quite a bit on fancy seals. And was now in need of repair where it had rotted.

Only UPVC units I've ever bought before came as ready made from Screwfix - stock sizes, and I've been very happy with those. But they don't appear to do them anymore.

So just chose a mail order custom made one after Googling. From JustValueDoors.

Seemed par for the course when it arrived - just as heavy as I'd expect.

It had to fit inside the original wood frame for the old door - so obviously a bit smaller than the original, as it included a frame. The original wood frame was just fine and measure plumb and square, so as easy as anything to install. Fitted the new one using packing pieces to get it absolutely spot on and not under any strain. Diagonals were the same and everything plumb.

With no glass fitted, the lock plate was over an inch too high. The hinges are adjustable, but only a limited up and down movement - +/- 0.5 mm.

And as supplied, the distance from the door to the edge of the frame on both sides and above looked just fine.

So fitted the glass and the weight of that made the door drop even further.

Levelled the door by adjusting the hinges - was surprised just how much the frame flexed when doing this.

Then removed the lock plate and moved it to suit - which meant enlarging the recesses in the frame for it.

Come back Screwfix - all is forgiven.
