Well inner tubes actually...
I ordered via 18 x 6.50 for the lawn tractor. What has just been delivered says on the packaging 18/850/950 - before I start trying to fit them, are they the correct size please?

shurely google is your friend?

Jim K submitted this idea :
Only if you know how to phrase the search. I don't, so the answer is?

Googling for: tube size "18/850/950" should get you started.
First few hits suggest it is for an 8" rim (8.50-9.50") so may be oversize for your app but this is not my area of expertise. Might be worth querying with the supplier but I can understand you wanting to be forewarned/armed before approaching them.
Looks like the ride on brigade are at the pub t'nite.
outer diameter of the tyre measured from inner rim edge to opposite inner rim edge along the outer edge of tyre.
The second figure - 8.50 is the Section Width The width of tyre at the widest point outside the rim.
The third figure - 9.50 is the Nominal Rim Diameter the Inside width of tyre where it sets within the rim.
If those measurements stack up with the tyres you've got fitted then the innertubes are of the correct size.
according to this anyway -

It is too dark to check against the tyre now, but the 18 is definitely correct and the 2nd and 3rd figures sound about right at a guess.
I didn't want to start trying to fit them, without making sure first.
Thanks for the reply.
That has to rank as the least useful possible reply to any enquiry. Phrasing your search criteria to get the answer you need without being swamped by irrelevant rubbish is something of an art. Google may be a friend if you have mastered the art, but for others it can be a minefield - like the friend who was looking for information on asthma and, to cut out all the stuff on children, used the word adult in the search.

practice makes perfect it's really not that diffcult if you are prepared to make a small investment of your own time same to your friend - check out google advanced search
see fred's message where he managed the rather obvious google phrase and specifically says "in the first few hits"
Also didn't notice you coming up with any direct "help" to the OP either? you too busy too? - but still time for a truly pointless observation...
Jim K
It is not difficult for some people, who then often make the mistake of thinking everyone else should find it just as easy.
Does the search term adult bring up different results if you use advanced search? I've never used it myself, as I don't have a problem working out efficient search criteria.
As I said, some people find search engines easy to use. Others do not.
I know nothing about tyre sizes, so would not be in a position to judge the value of any hits I get - another necessary skill when using the internet as a source of information. When I do know something about the subject, my replies are often in the form of links to something I have found for the enquirier - the stainless steel paint thread for example.
The most pointless observation possible is 'Google is your friend' without a suitable link attached.
Colin Bignell
????? spend *your* time reading the results until you think you have gleaned enough as much info as possible *then* ask questions of others - simples!
if not how do you learn then? word of mouth? masons, priest, flat earth?
or have you finshed with all that messy inconvenient learnin' stuff?
negative - the most pointless observations are those (incl. yours above) that offer *absolutely no help* to the OP whatsoever...
Jim K
I did that - I tried to pick Quick Fits mobile tyre fitters brain when he was fitting a pair of new tyres on the company vehicle, he said they don't use any tubes nowadays and don't get involved with such small tyres anyway.
Chimps IME unfortunately, I've had obvious safety related issues with both the stores and the mobiles.
This example shows a car abandoned on jacks in a busy supermarket carpark for 20mins while the fitter disappeared on other business:
fred gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying:
to complete the job?
Adrian gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying:
(He's bloody lucky those rather lovely jacks didn't go walkies, though)
or putting the new tyres on at the local krap fit centre?
many moons ago they put a new exhaust on my then MG Metro - and they left the plastic/rubber? petrol pipe to the carb *in contact* with the downpipe..... needless to say I didn't get far before the stench of petrol was overwhelming, being fed into the car by the heater vents etc. Next day I drove!! it back to them - they fixed, no apology, no comment & no more money from me forever...
Chimps at the least.......

Some Smart Alec would doubtless answer the question with 'Google is your friend'
....
'Google is your friend' by itself not only offers no help whatsoever to the OP, it is also very patronising. Adding a suitable link makes it no less patronising, but at least offers help.

The reason's an elephant, he shouldn't have left it on jacks in a public place without supervision and without any attempt to separate other cars or peds from the area. IMO at total tit.
You continue to miss the point....just try to think of it as a reminder in which direction to help oneself before asking others to spend their own time doing trivial searches.... simples!
Indeed did anyone actually *know* the answer and post it? er..nope - only people kindly doing (trivially simple) google searches came up with answers, why didn't the OP try that first? NB apparently the OP has posted 4.5k messages in 57 groups....
Jim K
Jim K presented the following explanation :
....and in replying to numerous questions, never once have I ever make a a suggestion such as 'Google is your friend'. An entirely pointless response, a waste of space.
oh hello! found some time to join in ;>)
