TV Bracket extension - aluminium bar?

I've recently got a new TV and I was hoping to use the old bracket, but I've lost the plates to extend the 200mm x 200mm plate to 300mm x 200mm. I've got a length of this:

25mm x 2mm thick aluminium bar.

If I secured the bar to the bracket plate with 2 bolts, and fixed to the TV with 1 bolt at each of the 4 points, would that do the job? The new TV's about

15kg, and the bracket is rated to 40kg.

I would go for mild steel or stainless steel rather than aluminium.

It'll be fine, for the 50mm overhang you have either side and the relatively light weight, 2mm ali will do the job no bother.
