Honestly though - never once had to solve a Quadratic equation by factoring or resolve simultaneous equations, and seemed to spend an inordinate amount of school & college time of solving these !
Also outside of classroom never had to use e or j functions or polynomial expressions... can't even remember what Imaginary numbers were about.
I can remember many hrs spent calculating logarithms, and that was before we even moved on to using out Longgman 6 figure tables ... needed to know how to calculate a Log first.
My son just completed his degree - never seen a set of Log tables !
