Today is The Medway Handmans 60th Birthday

The combination of her *and* a young Judy Geeson is why I remember the film...

What sort of combination were they in? ;-)

A bit late but happy birthday anyway TMH.

The whole list seems to lack a good many famous people.

birthday with, among others, Ho Chi Minh, Malcolm X and Pol Pot. Also Colin Chapman, no relation but one of several that have two entries.

No mention of David Jacobs. I am sure he is more famous than some of those that are listed.

And I've got Che Guevara, Sam Wannamaker, Donald Trump, Rowan Williams, Paul Boateng, Steffi Graf. And apparently, Scotty, although he's not due to be born for another 149 years.

Much thanks for all the kind comments. I am now officially an old bastard.

Great day on Saturday. SWMBO bought me a Kindle, read two books on it already, bloody brilliant, total convert.

Daughters round for drinks & pressies - bottle of Glenfiddich from youngest & tickets for Squeeze live @ Rochester Castle from eldest amongst other goodies.

Great meal at Cosmo - all you can eat Chinese buffet, my fave eating place - then a river cruise on the Kingswear Castle paddle steamer - steam, boat, bar, music - what better.

Life is good.

You old bastard. Now all you need is to get all the ailments under the sun so you get free prescriptions. You'll feel better for it ;)

Just slightly younger than me!

Hear hear. My wife wasn't sure she wanted one, but she's converted> use mine all the time, even sometimes for work stuff. Beats carrying a laptop or a bunch of printout.

Where's Cosmo? Might give it a try when I'm up there. Is the buffet just Sundays?

They are a small chain

buffet is always on, thats all they do. Large range of food, all very good.

The Chatham one is in the High Street, not far from Argos, reasonable parking nearby.

Not that far from where I work sometimes...Pembroke...

Brings back very happy memories of when TV in the UK wasn't all about ratings.

Thames TV children's department made a prog about Emily Dickinson called The Belle of Amherst which won an EMMY. It starred Claire Bloom in the single roll. Produced and directed by Adrian Brown. The entire production team (of which I was one) was invited to a meal in a very nice restaurant in Kings Road afterwards to celebrate the award. Where Ms Bloom presided and entertained the entire evening. A lovely lady.

Premature these days I am sorry to say.

We are in transition to bus passes at 65. People born on or after 6 April 1950 qualify on the day that a woman born on the same day reaches state pension age.

So Dave has to wait until 6 September 2012.

Sorry to be a party pooper.

He won't get it yet...he has to delay by about 8-9 months, this being equated to the current women's retirement age...

I forgot the scale was that aggressive. I get mine on 6 September 2011!

And me. Don't forget Boy George and Alan Carr. And Mike Yarwood.

OOoooo... didn't realise there was one in Chatham. Might have to visit.

My Son loves the Hastings one - enjoys disgusting SWMBO by coming back to the table with bits of octopus, squid and the strange little crab claw things they do.

It's not the finest dining, but it's one step up from the cheap'n'cheerful buffet places, and the kids love it :-)
