Thermostatic mixer shower

I am looking for a decent, keenly priced thermostatic mixer shower and am trying to scope out some of the better ones via the internet before I visit a bathroom showroom/plumber's merchants on the weekend. My plumber said I should look for ones with brass internal fittings (valves, etc) rather than plastic ones as the latter will degrade quicker - but which showers have these.

I have looked at the Miras (Excel, Gem 88) which go from =A3250-300 but there is also the Triton Tyne (=A3150, PlumbWorld PWTT0010) and the Triton Altaire (=A363.99, Screwfix - 47639) but which of these if any have brass internals?

The list of showers was compiled mainly on basis of looks and because they require a minmum head of only 1m. Our existing thermostatic mixer shower is a Mira 722 and although the flow rate is not great it is acceptable.

Can anyone assist in eliminating the good from bad?

I've got the triton tyne. looks very sleek, where many of the cheap bar mixers are ugly. looks like all brass, although I've not looked "inside", The ports as they go into the body are brass. They supply flow limiting inserts for high pressure, although I never use these (I've fitted 2 of this model). Note: the bar mixers use a wax capsule which responds slower than the bimetal sensors that some MIRAs use. I've fitted a pressure balancing valve on the inlet to the tyne, and the combination of this and the thermostatic module is pretty good. The thing I like about bar mixers is you don't have to dig out the wall too much, and the inlet spacings are fairly standard, so replacement in the future will be easy. Simon.

Thanks for the response - Triton technical team have also confirmed that the Tyne ("in common with other Bar Mixer Valves" has a brass body). Just ordered one. Cheers
