Thanks for the suggestions but they really do need to be a cylinder, with diameter 400 and height 500'ish. That last link give me an idea ... I have a large number of the 1T bags that sand and gravel are delivered in - I wonder if I could persuade SWMBO to cut'n'sew one into the right shape (probably not, but it may be worth a try)

It doesn't need to be self-supporting. It fits inside a collection drum, underneath a chip-separating "cyclone", and has a former inside it to maintain it's shape.

You didn't tell us the make & model of your chip extractor so let's pretend it's an Axminster AW118CI -

Things like rubble sacks would just conform to the shape they are forced into. Many people have kitchen rubbish bins either round or square in shape. The same rubbish sack fits both.

Around my way where the council rubbish is collected in rubbish sacks* many people just line a plastic dustbin with the sacks to fill them before putting the sacks out for collection.

Gah! Another f'ing mistake. The canister bag is spec'd at 500 and the drum bag at 660 - no idea why. Perhaps I should just go back to bed and give up on trying to do anything today :-(

Even so, every collection bag I have seen for a (domestic) dust/chippings has been flat. As long as the bag will fit over the drum any excess in length or width can be folded before clamping. You only need to stop the air escaping & throwing dust into your breathable air.
