For sound proofing, ignore overpriced 'specialist' boards like Fermacell. They might have their uses where greater strength is needed, but are no better than the equivalent plasterboard for sound insulation. For best results - as I said - use double 1/2 on both sides of a double stud wall with at least a six inch gap. Fill the gap with acoustic wadding. This advice comes after actual field tests - not from a maker's website. You know nothing about sound insulation, dribble. Or anything, really.
Sound qualities are "excellent".

Best results? Use spaced or staggered studs. I find staggered is better when using dense Rockwool bats as the sound absorbing infill in the void. There is dedicated sound material, but it is "very" expensive and only performs slightly better than Rockwool bats. On both side have Fermacell boards. They have high mass, similar to MDF, are strong (can hang cupboards off it), and make a wall very rigid. You can use 2x2" staggered studs and the stiff Fermacell will make a strong wall. Use 2x2" studs and plasterboard and the wall will be weak and shake. Plasterboard requires an expensive skim, and using two sheets on each side makes the wall far thicker. Fermacell is pre-finished, which makes the job quicker and cheaper.
The above is the most cost effect and quickest method, by far. The plus points are so strong it is foolish to do it any other way. I have done it this way, and it works wonderfully..as easy to do.

It was done in this house, over 8 years ago (ie, before we moved in), and hasn't cracked. Even when fairly substantial rebuilding work was going on overhead, or when I hung cupboards across it on the other side.
I only found out about it when drilling holes for the cupboards, so then went along the other side tapping and you can clearly hear the doorway.
Not that I'm saying it's the right thing to do. If the floor was suitable - and with blocks on both sides you'd think it likely to be - I think I'd build a proper wall myself.
