Storage Heater Elements

Have recently moved house and am now faced with replacing at least 5 Dimplex storage heater elements in my new home. Brand name replacements are around £30 each while unnamed generic replacements, which fit a variety on makes, can be found on eBay for about half that. Is it a false economy to go for the cheaper option??? Bill

I replaced the fan-oven element on our cooker with a generic part some=20 years ago - it's been fine. They're the same sort of technology, so I'd=20 expect the experience to be relevant.

I doubt it, they are pretty low tech parts

If they're open coil type elements, just repair them with a small bolt, they seldom need replacement.

If they're jacketed elements, they're wire coils inside a metal tube filled with metal oxide, so you should be ok with cheap parts.
