Sticky Rubber Knobs

In the past, I have suffered the rubberised control buttons and knobs turning sticky over time, I used to use talcum powder to reduce this sticky feel, but it doesn't seem to work nowadays. Does anyone know of another way to stop this messy business.?

Interesting. I have the use of a BMW from c.2010 and the front passenger door has a handle arrangement which is completely different from that on the driver's door. The passenger door has a handle mounted at an angle and the rear face of the handle (the part facing the door card) is rubber. Passengers have been complaining for some time that this handle is very sticky and leaves an unpleasant black deposit on their hands and sometimes their clothing.

A local Beemer specialist advised me to buy a replacement rear surface on eBay, which I did. It's now booked in for the swap in a week or so's time.
