I'm recovering a 2 x 12" speaker cab with "carpet" sold for the purpose. What would be the best adhesive to use? I've heard there is a spray-on type available. thanks

Used by carpet fitters, oddly enough. My mate the carpet fitter carries it on his van. It has an odd-shaped nozzle that sprays a flat 'fan' pattern. It's a 'no second chance' contact adhesive, so you've got to get your positioning right first time. Strangely, I was talking to another mate today about exactly that stuff, and he is about to use it to stick veneer to some new cabs he's just built ...

This is on the inside I presume. Use any old contact adhesive.
These things are never anywhere near as effective on the outside as on the inside.
As he said a "2x12", I was assuming a PA cab. These are often covered with a 'carpet-like' material, which is a lot more durable, being slung around in a van out on the road, than the alternative vinyl covering, which rips fairly easily. The carpet fitters' spray adhesive is extremely effective used anywhere.

Not for sound "effect" then? Any old contact adhesive still applies then. Maybe a few tacks depending on what its being fixed to.
Yes it's the out side (PA cab). It has to be durable for reason you mention. Any name for this stuff - B&Q later today :-)
