Source of unusaul Lampholder?

Not exactly what you describe, but possibly...um...'adjustable'!

That takes me back to the fifties there was quite a trend to convert old acid carboys into table lamps the carboys had quite a wide neck big enough to allow a light bulb through and you could even buy a double headed lamp holder so one bulb could be inserted in the neck of the carboy to illuminate downward into the carboy with the other shaded on top.

You could make a double header light fitting using brass lamp holders the type that have a threaded cable entry point, the thread on those is1/2? 26 TPI. A piece of threaded tube could be used to link the two together with a hole in the side of the tube for cable entry to both. The shade could be attached to the top one in the normal fashion but you would then need to figure a way to attach the whole shebang to your ceramic base.

Do you remember the later fad of turning bottles - particularly chianti bottles - into lamps? A normal urea-formaldehyde lampholder, but with the rear cover having a hole in the side for the cable to exit and a threaded hole where the cable normally exits. A single piece plastic moulding screwed into the end and squeezed into the bottle neck.
