After a long and frustrating struggle trying to access this (and indeed any other) group via Plusnet and using Thunderbird, I think I've finally succeeded. The last step is to attempt a post, so here it is.

Hmm. I've been putting this job off for some time. Turnpike is very happy on W7 but the long put off move to W11 and T Bird is pressing:-(
Unless you have a specific reason for using TB other than basic email and news, you might try Claws-Mail, for which there is a Windows port. Very much faster than TB, but then so is a snail,,,

Note that many functions are implemented as plugins, just pick the ones you need. Not as many functions as TB, but they include what I need.

Ok Joe. One newsgroup is hardly a serious burden so speed not an issue. I rarely get more than 5 mails per day. T.Bird 115.9 seems OK currently.
