Take a look at what this guy has done:

am particularly like his conversion of a chest freezer into a fridge which consumes less than 0.1 kWh per day. He also has his own wind turbine, solar panels, solar hot water and worm farm.

After browsing the site for a bit you might want to scream CULT !!! but there are a lot of interesting ideas here.

And as for storing 10,000 litres of water for the heat pump.

vasts amounts of power... I do like the low temperature collectors though.

Presumably no more than a change of thermostat to one that operates at

0 to 5C rather than -25 to -20C...
