I've noticed that the clay pipe actual comes out of concrete by an inch. Would it still be the same part or is there a similar one that goes around that or am I overthinking it?

Probably overthinking it. If the adapter seals the pipes that will be good enough.

There are other plastic to clay adapters but more flexible and more suited to soil pipe repairs underground.

Err, if this is *only* a vent pipe (and it looks to clean to be carrying numbers two's etc), and the toilets etc connect underground somewhere, then all you need is something called an Air-admittance valve, or Durco valve. You don't actually need to run a pipe up the wall so that the top vent is ?300mm higher than the highest window (to comply with building regs), the Durco valve does this for you and complies with building regs provided that no more than 1 in 3 connections to the main sewer have these valves attached.

some types are just pushfit, others have a clip to hold in place, look for manufacturer name on what you have and try to find similar, e.g.
