I would phrase that as "may" be possible, but very unlikely.
It would be easy enough with just one as long as the TV is showing a broadcast channel and has a backlight that changes with what is on the screen.
I do check my bank statements very carefully and there have not been any extra charges.

No, because there is no way to work out what current one TV is taking from the total house current when there are two running.
That is a different situation entirely, those are fixed currents when a particular device is turned on. With a TV the current taken by the backlight varies continuously with the program content and so while its possible to work out what variable current is due to a single TV, it will never be possible to work out which current each TV is taking when both are running at the same time with different programs being watched on each one.

It would also be possible to look for say the most recently released movies and see if one of those is being watched as well. But never going to be possible to always work out what is being watched, even with just one TV.
But how will you measure the backlight current ?
The fragmentation where the DNO (operator) is not responsible for metering within their own area has to be an issue.
Also what is the granularity of the metering, they certainly meter at the grid supply point, but that is (usually) 132kV and there is a lot of infrastructure below that point.
Maybe end user meter readings are shared and totalised within an area but that still leaves a lot of legitimate unmetered supplies such as lights and fixed line comms infrastructure.

So on the TV you have a silent B&W movie and next is the lastest action fil m. As the volume goes up and down this also changes the current consumption of the TV. Also while watching the TV I might be using my computer increasin g teh brighness of the screen the power consuption nof my iMac almost doubl es and almost doubles again if I push teh grahics processor. Yep I've had 4
00 FPS on my retina 27 inch imac, that's when the fan kicks in, another vai riable, burning a DVD which I know takes an extra 5W of power which obvious ly all comes from the household's total consumption, and the washing machin e cycle changes, again changing total current consumnption, if I open the f ridge/freezer a light comes on. When my landline phone takes a message that also takes more current, even the ringing would. Perhaps you could tell me what current yuor backlight takes....... I'm betting you've no idea, as that too changes with type and size of displ ay.
It is much harder with LCD screens than with classical CRTs where it was possible to reconstruct the screen display from stray RF emissions.
I reckon he could use the gridwatch stats to calculate that ;-)
