Other half wants a small safe (mini type with combination code bolted to the wall)
Seem to be going on ebay for about £15 plus £10 postage - i.e £25.00
Anyone seen them any cheaper anywhere? Any ideas where I could get one from?

MM! I always remember the old adage "Buy Cheap - Buy Twice".
Cheap safe is an advert for a thief - Big sign says "hey look. We keep all our valuables in here and i'm a doddle to bust open"
Better off lifting a floor board than havong a cheap safe !
But with only a note inside saying "ha ha fooled you"
Thats the idea!
Cheap safe bolted to the wall, so the villain spends there time removing it and taking it with them and not finding the actual "secure" location
Any suggestions where I can get on?
If your local softened criminal can't get into where he thinks you've hidden your crown jewels then he may be tempted to teach you a lesson by vandalising your home. These people don't think the same way that the average person does - ask Tony Martin about Fearons actions.
Thus if you do have one of these safes possibly the best thing to do is leave the keys in the safe with something which has the appearance of being valuable, so that they can help themselves and get out. Mad I know, but it might save your home from being trashed.

One of the problems of crime prevention is making sure that whatever crime you prevent does not lead to a different, possibly more serious, crime. Currently car protection systems are getting so good that it is easier to mug the owner for the keys than to try to defeat the anti-theft systems. Having a safe can similarly lead to you being threatened and / or injured to get it open.
