We have a rusty old skylight in our roof, probably not been opened for decades, comprising two panes of glass, each maybe 10" x 20". One has vanished, probably in the recent storm.
I need a quick fix to replace my jammed-in polystyrene foam. Any problem with using polycarbonate instead of glass?

Depends how thick it is. But getting proper glass cut would be no harder than getting polycarb. cut Id say...
I' definitely go DG as well if possible.
More accurately measured at 61cm x 22cm on the inside, so a bit bigger all round I guess.
I can't get to the outside and there's no way the window will open. Plastic is lighter, I can use tape or glue on the inside to manoeuvre it, it won't break if I drop it and I can adjust the size downwards easily.
The skylight is a bit of an anachronism. The loft is square and properly boarded, and previous owners had dormer windows put in front and back. It seems they were going to put stairs in somewhere but decided to get divorced instead. The skylight should have been removed at that time IMO.
A far more expensive option....
