That shape being? A long bow crossed with a cross bow presumably would produce a sort of uneven curly cross. Or does an apply somehow figure in the mix?

If it helps, I built a staircase with 19mm MDF treads and 12mm risers. As far as I am aware it is still going strong 20 years later :-)
