Doesn't paint well (for that use acrylic frame sealant).
I cannot answer as to silicone's logevity in sunlight though...

Silicone rubber (the proper stuff) has pretty good resistance for outside applications. That may not apply to the cheap bathroom sealers, which will have lots of fillers and extenders in.
As pointed out by previous poster, it does not take paint at all well.

If they are uPVC frames use something like Cerasit 7T, as used by professional window installers. I got some from my local tool hire centre.
Thanks guys . I have both UVPC and wooden

+1 for Cerasit but make sure you mask the frames before applying as it sticks like a bugger and wont come off if you spread it around.
Better off with an MS polymer than a silicone. 20-odd year expected life rather than 5. Overpaintable etc, etc. Silicone of any brand has no advantages I can think other than availability in a few more colours and a little less cost.
