seeking teardown info for Quinetic doorbell QUDB

Hi all as per the subject - I would like to dismantle one of these battery-free door bells, but can't find any info on it, to my surprise.

I think Big Clive did a teardown of some switches using similar technology, but not this. The part no is QUDB and TLC have them here:

I'm sure one of my friends had a doorbell that ran on clockwork .

And sure enough, you can still buy them.

My old house had the remnants of a mechanical door bell, bellcrank levers and all. This new-fangled electricity will never catch on.

Ah, but you have to remember to wind them. There is a similar type, without the clockwork mechanism. Instead of pressing the bellpush, a caller turns a knob and that is geared to directly drive the bell mechanism.

There was an indicator board in my bedsit in Glasgow in the 70s, but it was driven electrically.

Here's an array of servant's bells in a hotel on Islay I took a pic of

. They seem to have different notes by the look.

Clockwork? Really?. I'd have thought a piezo electric effect could be generated on pressing the button to send a tiny pulse via an internal transmitter to some kind of receiver inside the premises. Brian

I have a self-contained wind-up clockwork doorbell. It's not on my door, but I used to use it when rambling in the country to ring at passing cyclists to try and make them feel guilty for not using theirs.

Makes more sense to use a massive great air horn and a battery pack.

My grandparents' house had one on the back door. You wound it up by turning the bell.
