My cheapy, built like a Russian tank regiment SDS I bought about a decade ago from Netto (or maybe Lidl?) lets me do that :) although I doubt it was designed that way. One thing for sure it's way too heavy for regular use when drilling holes for wall plugs.
One day I'll buy a more usable SDS drill that doesn't require shot putter like strength just to lift out of the box.
