Screwing into UPVC

Jan 28, 2016 3 Replies

What type of screws are the best for attaching door stays, bolts and whatnot to upvc doors and frames?

Have you got any steel box section inside the frame (many do - usually the coloured frames and the better class of white). Try a magnet...

A self tapping screw is fine for the PVCu and the metal box section if there is any. Both materials with work fine with a small pilot hole, as long as the box section is not too thick. Don't us a twin thread screw - you want a fairly coarse thread. Simon.

These are the types used by window frame makers
