roof ladder that can attach to a party wall instead of a roof ridge?

I want to leave a ladder on my rear extension roof semi-permanently, to give me access to the roof from an upstairs balcony.

I've looked at roof ladders, but they only seem to have hooks suitable for attaching to roof ridges. Unfortunately at the top of the roof where I want to lay a ladder is a small party wall, perhaps a foot or more in height.

Is there any other sort of ladder attachment I could use that would safely secure itself to the wall while still distributing its weight evenly over the roof?

Thanks,

Chris

Don't think so.

How about screwing some large hooks or eyes into the base of the party wall, to which you could attach a conventional ladder? Oh, but then you'd need a roof ladder to climb up there in the first place... :-(

Actually, they don't. They have a bracket which goes over the ridge and rests on the roof on the other side. You wouldn't want to rely on a ridge tile to hold the ladder on the roof.

Same issue here -- I wouldn't want to rely on a few courses of bricks on the top of a weathered wall to hold a ladder in place on a roof.
