Replacing a gas hob

We changed to induction last year and are very pleased with it. Our reason for changing was that my wife suffers from both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis and despite wanting to do at least some of the cooking, could not cope with the physical effort of cleaning the gas hob after use. The induction hob, being just a flat glass top is so easy to clean.

A better question (which you may already have answered) is could you replace the hob with the current extractor above it.

In tied accommodation (not mine) in a school I worked at, thee Ed estates dept had to remove an extractor when a new tenant moved in, as it was too low over a gas hob to Meet current regs.

Also when we bought a replacement electric hob our existing extractor was deemed to be too low and the fitters refused to fit.

(I think had I been present, I would?ve temporarily removed the cupboard door from the front of it which would have made it much higher).

I am a die-hard, still on gas (47 years now), but having had induction in our last three or four holiday cottages I shall go for induction next time too.
