replacement front / kitchen doors to house

We need two doors in our house replaced, one in the kitchen going out to the yard, and the front door to the house.

Who would do such work in my area, London SW12? I can spend a little more money, I just want the work to be done reputably.

What I'm looking for is companies which specialise in manufacturing and installing doors. One example which has been advertising on TV recently is;

We can either employ a window firm such as Albion, or a firm which specialises in doors.

Suggestions?

Rated only 5.8/10 on Trustpilot - and didn't this 'nospam' person post exactly the same message in this group not long ago??

... thought so - 2nd Feb, and 26th Jan

Mr Nospam (!) is either rather forgetful... or something of a clueless spammer!

there are a few positive reviews, and some negative reviews.

I don't know whether to go with this company or not. The main branch seems to be in Northholt, which is a long way from Clapham. I am put off by the negative reviews on trustpilot.

Why not go with a company that not only supplies the door but also fits them.

From the replies to the negative reviews it appears that this company don't make the doors, they just buy them in from another manufacturer.

Do you have any suggestions as to a suitable company which both supplies and fits doors?

I am confused by the trustpilot reviews of Todd Doors. Some are very posiitve, some very negative. I almost wonder if some of the positive reviews are "fake news", constructed by the company to encourage buyers.

Albion supply uPVC doors, but not timber doors. They've previously supplied windows for our house, they do good work.

Are uPVC doors acceptable from the point of view of security? I think timber may be stronger than uPVC. Am I right to think that?

Sorry, they do supply timber doors;

The question remains. Are timber doors stronger than uPVC doors?

Any double glazing company. Go into any double glazing showroom and ask for a pamphlet on doors they supply - or do you want something very bespoke? The showroom will/should have example doors on display.

Once you've found something you like get a couple/three quotes. I'm getting all external doors and windows replaced in the next few weeks and the quotes I obtained varied by 25% (after discounts from the unrealistic "recommended retail price").

But do you trust Trustpilot?

Look at composite doors from double glazing companies.

As for security - if a thief wants to get through your front door they will. Plenty of videos on Youtube about picking locks. Its not normally the door that gives way but the frame. Brute force will get you a long way and the thief doesn't care about what damage is done.

Trustpilot is an awful dishonest unreliable thing. It is full of fake positive reviews, it is paid for by the businesses and trustpilot make sure that even the worst businesses get good ratings.

If there are any bad reviews at all on trustpilot it should ring alarms.

IME a firm of joiners is where you buy doors or have them made, if you want other than what is hanging up in the builders merchants or sheds and a carpenter is who fits them and they are NOT the same firms usually. One is a factory machine shop and the other is onsite trade.
