Removing Paint Smell

Jun 12, 2008 3 Replies

At Christmas we redecorated one of the halls at Church. It still has a paint smell (part of the problem is that the building is not occupied a lot of the time so hence the windows are rarely open).

Any suggestions for masking/absorbing the smell?

An old trick is to place chopped onions in a room after painting (particularly gloss). But whether it will work six months down the line is in the 'lap of the gods'. ;-)

Don.

A bundle of barley straw in a bucket of water is said to work. As it is also used for clarifying ponds, you should be able to buy it at a garden pond supplier.

It doesn't work though.

The only solutions are ventilation or a good carbon filter.
