I thought that when you bought a new electrical appliance from a retailer there was a legal obligation on them to take back the old one and send it for recycling. Is my memory at fault, or has the law changed?
We have a washing machine with a couple of minor faults that turns out to be 21 years old. That means it's probably not worth me trying to take it apart to try to work out what's wrong and almost certainly not worth paying for a repair. So we need to start looking for a replacement. But the big sheds now seem to charge extra to pick up the old machine - and councils also charge to collect them. Is this the new normal?
